Right to Information Act 2005 — Summary

Every Indian citizen has the legal right to seek information from government offices under the Right to Information Act 2005. This law aims to bring transparency in administration.

Any Indian citizen can file an RTI application.
The application can be made in writing or online.
Response period — 30 days.
Application fee: ₹10 (Cash / Postal Order / Demand Draft).
There is a right of appeal if the application is rejected.
